ORBICO:
multi-store
for employees

50+ brands

Orbico Poland is leading distributor of more than 50 well-known global brands and provider of logistics services on the Polish market.

Project goals

We were tasked with creating a multi-store for employees of Orbico.

We planned to integrate three different shops (with separate staff, mechanics, logistics) into one e-commerce site that works smoothly. We also wanted to keep a great cost-to-effect ratio (keeping high quality with low expenses thanks to finding smart solutions in the coding process).

How to solve this puzzle?

Our multi-store was supposed to integrate with Base Linker so we had to provide:

mass import/migration of products from various sources

option to modify loads
of data on a fly

create UX that will be super easy to comprehend and manage for employers with various backgrounds and experience

All three “source” shops are managed by different storehouses (and personnel) so we had to create an intuitive system of product exclusion. Basic premise for the project was that users can order goods from only one shop at a time.

Ups and downs of project

We integrated new e-commerce with those three separate systems although we haven’t had full access to them. When milestones were achieved, crews from source stores tested if things run correctly.

Keeping track of roadmap

To progress programming multi-store we often had to contact different specialists from all source shops. Engaging many new people into complicated project just begs for problems. To evade most of them we developed a system to control progress and improve communication:

  • Quick meetings on zoom with crucial personnel (from three to seven depending on needs) at every monday and wednesday in first phase and at every monday in final stage.
  • Issue tracker – easy to track control list constantly updated by our PM who kept tabs on what’s next priority, what feature needs testing et cetera.
What’s endgame?

To sum up: we not only provided technical knowledge but most importantly: our experience in handling IT projects. We combined four crews of programmers and other specialists into one simple structure. Thanks to key things like:

meetings on a
regular basis

efficient
communication

great technical
skills

our project
management

Orbico multistore was delivered in a way that was almost stress free, without friction between compounded staff. Our goal was to provide product of:

high quality

great cost-effective
ratio

in proper scope

on budget and
time
